CITAZIONE Make a Date with The Box
Richard Kelly's latest chiller The Box finally has a release date. In a rare turn of events, the movie has been moved up from its proposed original release date in November to arrive just in time for Halloween!
According to Box Office Mojo October 30, 2009 is the new date we can pencil into our calendars. Thanks again to DC reader Joey Monda (this guy's an animal) for pointing us in Mojo's direction!

| | | | Interessanti news e la locandina... CITAZIONE Alcune novità su The Box ci arrivano oggi, raccontandoci qualcosa di più sul il thriller/horror del regista Richard Kelly con Cameron Diaz e James Mardsen protagonisti; insieme è stato diffuso anche il poster, sebbene in risoluzione minuscola.
Ci arrivano, dopo molti mesi di silenzio, le prime novità dalla pellicola “The Box” grazie al regista Richard Kelly, il quale ha aggiornato il suo Myspace. “The Box” è un film horror-fantascientifico che si ispira ad un racconto breve di Richard Matheson.
Sebbene la data di uscita del film sia stata rimandata di continuo, al momento è stata ufficializzata la data del 30 ottobre 2009. Secondo quanto scritto da Kelly la pellicola è pronta già da natale 2008, è stata girata in digitale nonostante il film sia ambientato nel 1976 e dura 1 ora e 55 minuti. Nella colonna sonora ci saranno nomi molto particolari: Grateful Dead, Derek & The Dominos, Wilson Pickett, The Marshall Tucker Band e Scott Walker.
In attesa che il sito ufficiale del film venga aperto, durante l’estate, Kelly si sta dedicando alla stesura del suo prossimo film. In “The Box” troviamo Cameron Diaz e James Marsden protagonisti: i due interpretano una coppia che riceve una semplice scatola di legno in regalo; la scatola però porterà con sé conseguenze fatali.
Frank Langella interpreterà uno straniero che consegna un messaggio alla coppia: la scatola dovrebbero procurare, a chi premerà un bottone posto su di essa, un milione di dollari, ma non senza conseguenze: se viene premuto il bottone, un essere umano da qualche parte nel Mondo morirà, una persona sconosciuta alla coppia. Dopo locandina e trailer, ora il prossimo film di Richard Kelly si mostra anche in rete
E' passato un po' di tempo dall'nostro ultimo aggiornamento su The Box, datato al 26 giugno scorso, giorno in cui vi abbiamo proposto il primo trailer ufficiale in lingua inglese del film di Richard Kelly, il bambino prodigio di Hollywood che ha diretto l'acclamatissimo Donnie Darko. Ora The Box approda anche in rete con l'apertura del proprio sito ufficiale.
Il sito, cui design sembra ideato appositamente per restituire l'idea di un puzzle da risolvere, per ora non contiene molti materiali ed è sapientemente complicato da navigare, ma nel prossimo futuro siamo certi che i web designer infileranno qualche regalino in più nella "scatola", a beneficio di tutti coloro che sono in trepidante attesa dell'uscita del film.
La trama di The Box, dichiaratamente ispirata al racconto Button, Button di Richard Matheson datato 1970, racconta di una coppia in guai finanziari, composta da attori quali Cameron Diaz e James Marsden. Un giorno i coniugi ricevono in dono da un misterioso straniero una scatola magica, che li pone di fronte a una drammatica scelta: se i due decideranno di premere il bottone alla sua sommità, riceveranno all'istante un milione di dollari, ma così facendo causeranno la morte di una persona a loro sconosciuta.
Per scoprire quale sarà la scelta dei due sposini, dovremo attendere prima l'uscita statunitense di The Box, programmata per il 6 novembre 2009, e poi aspettare che il film approdi in Italia, il cui esordio è previsto secondo l'Internet Movie Database al 31 dicembre prossimo. XXX | | | |

| | | | ah beh.. tanto noi.. siamo solo l'Italia dopotutto.. =( comunque sembra che il film abbia una bella colonna sonora, ecco cosa dicono su BadTaste: CITAZIONE Intanto Kelly ha parlato a MTV della colonna sonora del film, che dalle clip si preannuncia molto coinvolgente. Il regista sostiene che "da sola vale il prezzo del biglietto": è stata scritta dagli Arcade Fire, "una delle più promettenti rock band del Pianeta" che ha rifiutato numerose offerte di lavoro al cinema e in TV (l'unica loro canzone utilizzata nei media è stata per Six Feet Under molti anni fa). Kelly invece è riuscito a ottenere ben 80 minuti di musica originale, ispirata a colonne sonore come quella di Bernard Herrmann per La Donna che Visse due Volte, e scritta da Win Butler, Regine Chassagne e Owen Pallett (collaboratore, ma anche musicista della band Final Fantasy), assieme a Markus Dravs (ingegnere del suono della band, ma anche dei Coldplay e Brian Eno). "La colonna sonora," spiega Kelly, "è il cuore e l'anima di questo film, quasi fosse un altro personaggio".
Il thriller/horror, tratto dal racconto breve "Button Button" di Richard Matheson (l'autore di Io Sono Leggenda), e costato 30 milioni di dollari, il film sarà distribuito dalla Warner Bros negli USA, dalla Luckyred in Italia. Nel cast Cameron Diaz, James Marsden e Frank Langella.

A mysterious man presents a couple with a box, telling them that if they push its button they will receive a large amount of cashbut someone in the world will die as a result. Such is the simple premise of the Richard Matheson short story "Button, Button," which has been adapted by writer-director Richard Kelly into "The Box." Opening Nov. 6, the film stars Frank Langella as the man and Cameron Diaz and James Marsden as the couple.
"It was always this kind of great blueprint for an act one of a film," said Kelly of adapting the story, "and then it was like, 'Where do we go after this has happened?' I wanted to know what happens to that couple, and ultimately who is [the man] and who does he work for. . . . ?"
To expand the story, Kelly modeled the couple after his parents, setting the story in Virginia, where he grew up, in 1976, when his father was working at NASA, and even incorporating a medical accident his mother suffered.
"It's one of those what-if scenarios like you hear at a dinner party -- what would you do? To ground it in reality, it was like, let me go to the people I respect the most, my parents, and not make it the kind of couple who would just push the button carelessly. To think even the kindest, least violent people with great moral values might still push it, all of a sudden it made the story real."
Kelly's parents visited the set several times, allowing the actors some insights. "Obviously, it's an interpretation, not a facsimile," said Marsden of drawing from them. "But the more I could get into Richard's head and see what he was seeing, the easier it was."
When "The Box" shifts from its elegantly simple premise into a sprawling conspiracy of indeterminate origin before reaching a startling finale of emotional intimacy, Kelly finds a way to meld incongruous parts into a cohesive whole.
The film nevertheless paints itself into some outrageous corners, hinting at who may be behind the man's mission. Diaz set off a brief skirmish of online discontent following her Comic-Con appearance when she perhaps revealed too much about who might be behind the box and its button. "The funny thing is," she said, "I don't think even Richard knows. And that's OK. That's humanity. There is no answer."
Though he'd asked his parents about details of their lives, it wasn't until a lunch with the actors that Kelly's parents came to understand just how much of their lives were in the movie.
Richard's mother, Ennis Kelly, started to choke up a little in a call from their Virginia home. "It just means so much to me and Richard's dad." Source | | | |
